MGO is a measurement, not a slogan
MGO stands for methylglyoxal, a compound that occurs naturally in Mānuka honey. An MGO grade states a concentration: MGO 700+ means at least 700 mg of methylglyoxal per kilogram, confirmed by laboratory testing. The higher the number, the higher the measured content — and the rarer the honey.
How our honey is tested
Each batch is sampled and tested by Hill Laboratories, an independent, accredited New Zealand lab. Our MGO 700+ honey was tested at MGO 700+.

The MGO grading scale
MGO grades are minimums, measured in mg of methylglyoxal per kg. We grade on MGO licensing system that bundles MGO with other authenticity markers — the equivalences below are approximate.
